I wish everyone a very happy onam
For those who haven't heard about onam- it's a festival celebrated by malayalees.It commerates the vamana avatara of lord Vishnu and subsequent homecoming of king Mahabali(his annual visit from patala where Lord Vishnu had send him). It falls during the month of chingam(Aug - Sept) and lasts for ten days.It is celebrated in a grand way. unavoidables during onam- onakkodi(new clothes), pookalam(flowercarpet),sadhya(feast) including payasam. But the best thing that I enjoy is shopping which goes on like for ever. But iam grounded(no shopping ,my sisters did it for me) for now because of upcoming exams. Still looking forwad for thiruonam(august 29) the most important day and the last day of onam. I wish everyone a happy and prosperous onam. HAPPY ONAM
