Can any one tell me what is the procedure for getting VAT Registration No in Gujarat ?

Mr Sumit,
You have to file an application either on-line or directly in form 101 to LVO of your locality.Photographs,certified by a CA or Sales Tax Practitioner, proof of identity, rent agreement, partnership deed, or articles of association (for pvt or public LTd companies)list of properties, bank a/c details are to be furnished. On verification the department officials will registartion fee and security deposit as required and issue a certificate of registration.......mjk

It depends on city/area. In large cities it is compulsory,if there is an Act passed by the local bodies...MJK
