What to do if gstr 10 final return is not filed after applying for cancellation ?

The assessment would be open until dept observes it. Upon surrending clients are getting mail from department asking for gstr10.
So bettee not to take chances and abide by law and file gstr10 once gstn is surrendered for cancellation.
