Gst on educational books ?

Hello, what would be GST on Educational Books if sold in whole India ?

and What would be GST on Educational Books if CD is given as free in Books ?

and Does selling outer state ( Whole India ) GST is applicable, if yes than how much % ?

and If alone Sold Educational CD how much % will be gst ?

as Currently I am selling Educational CD's my laywer confirmed it's 18% GST on them so I thought it's better if I sell only Books ?

or Books with CD to save 18% ?

it's my own custom book currently I was selling as ebook in CD so getting it printed would be better or not ?

there is no gst on printed books....but if you sale cd than 18% gst is there.....
if you sale books and cd together, then no gst will be leviable as it will be a composit supply ...

If we are selling Printed Books out of state also, Does their is no GST ?

no gst...does not matter where do you sale.

Just now I have talked with a Book Publishing Company - they told me it's 18% GST on Printed Books ? Is it 18% on Book Printing ? or Selling Books amount ? Please clear my doubt my business is stuck due to this

Eg. Book printing cost is Rs 20 + 18% GST

and I am selling at Rs 600 - so does me or my customers need to pay 18% GST or it's NIL ?

printing a book and selling a book is different......if you go for printing any boom than the person who is printing your books is providing you a service......and printing a boom is not exempted from gst...hence he will charge from you gst o. the amount charged by him from you for book printing...but as I am seeing it in the rate finder app of cbec the gat rate is 5% and not 18%........you re confirm it from them....say them sac code 9988 is showing 5% ......
on the other hand selling printed book is exempted by government....hence when you sale printed book to others you need not to charge any tax.......
download rate finder app of cbec and search for book or printing.....you will find the applicable rates there easily....

I run a business of both coaching and sale of books. Coaching is 18% GST. But wanted clarity on books sold. Will it be 0% or 18% under the following cases. Books are for a competitive exam like CAT, GMAT, GRE etc. Our books are either hard copy or soft copy (sold on pen drive / online)

1. Books only sold B2C

2. Books only sold B2B with buyer providing coaching services to its students

3. Books with test series and Video Lectures sold B2B

4. Books with test series and Video Lectures sold B2C

5. Books only sold to distributors who resell them (no coaching provided)

6. Books with test series and Video Lectures sold to distributors who resell them

7. Sale of Only Test Series or Video Lectures (no books)

Sir, is there any exemption for sale of books by an educational institution is any could i know regarding section or notification regarding the same..?
