A person is already registered under GST due to his business income. Now he has purchased commercial property in a different state and would be putting that for rent. Is it compulsory for him to charge GST on that as well?

You have to add this renting services business in Original GST registration ,so that you can charge GST .

IF IT IS RENTING OF PROPERTY FOR RESIDENTIAL PURPOSES IT IS EXEMPTED FROM GST BUT FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES IT IS NOT EXEMPTED.
