Priot to GST, freight charges were paid either on lump sum basis or on a specific percentage on basic value of transaction. Now, after implementation of GST, I understand that freight charges also attract GST. Is it correct ?

Yes.. correct.. provided it doesn't involve in transportation of goods for which GST is not applicable.. and the freight charges exceeds the specified limit.. also, RCM is applicable for GTA.. the same needs to be considered..
