changing the name does not change the image of the institute. it has to change and an overhauling has to be done. any way may this be the first of the positive changes.

The change of name ÏCWA" as" ICMA""
In India, we will be always lacking behind several decades to go in line with other global practices.
It is seen that the name ÏCWA"was inherited from the name of the Parent body of ICWA, UK half century back. The name was changed there as ICMA 40 years back and this name has also been adopted by various other countries in the globe except India, the reason behind the CA Institute inIndia is objecting to the change of name. It is learnt that because of the delay in change of the name in India the ICWA Professionals of India has misirably failed to get recogniztion in the global market as the name ÏCWA"is not known in many countries.
The change in name, though planned after 40 years of change in other countries is welcome. But we have to wait and see what is going to happen. It is better the name should be "CMA" (Chartered Management Accountant") as now known in UK, in order to avoid further change in the coming years. Though the name "Chartered"is not relevant in Indian contest, such names are used in many organizations in India including that of Chartered Accountants of India.
All right , let the Government of India act

I appreciate the decision of government to approve the change in name. This is like Der Ayad Durast Ayad.
But the institute as well all the members have to commit to be in line with new name otherwise, it will be like Old wine in new Bottle.
Best of Luck to all ICMA members for acquiring a global recognition.
