Vivek Sir,
First story was similar to mine.... In my PE-2 exam, i was aiming a rank.... So, dragged pressure on myself... Forget about passing.... I was so nervous that i could not even write both groups... Wrote only one group & failed....Then i changed my thinking..... Wrote without tension & without aiming for rank....Kept things simple & cleared....
But Final exam, i got different experience.... I wrote both groups twice but could not clear... Lost by small margins.... I am also working.... After my second attempt, my employer asked me what happened...? I told lost by small margins.... He told, you are aiming just for pass (i.e: 50) so you are failing.... Aim little high like 70 marks per subject & study with that aim, you will pass.... Believe me, i accepted his advice & studied with that aim.... & i cleared..... (In MAFA i scored 78)
So, mine experience is mixed.... Though aiming for rank may be danegrous, student should aim at around 60-70 in each subject & study in that direction.... This will bring some of kind of seriousness in studies... Ultimately, it depends on how the student handles the pressure.....
