This is reinstated on 1st August. But then I wonder what is the big issue in this. If I were a service provider ( IT dept website is definitely one today!) I would like to have authentic data about the contact details of my customers ( Taxpayers!!) .
As a practicing CA I see this as a blessing in disguise. If you give the actual mobile numbers of the clients, they will inform you of all the intimations/SMS he gets so that saves you the trouble of monitoring them urselves. You can manage them on an exception basis.
If you dont protest when Gmail, Yahoo, filpcart, IRCTC, Myntra etc asking for your correct email and mobile number then why single out the IT dept??
