GOD & GREED

God & Greed

I went for a walk in a deserted street
All alone and no one to greet,
I saw a blur figure and approached it wisely
To my surprise, it was none other than God almighty,
I was scared and was in a shock
Completely unaware of how to start a talk,

I kept glancing at Him with my eyes so kind
When suddenly a thought happened to cross my mind,
What is but a thousand years to us on mother earth
Must be for the Lord, no more than a minute worth.

I asked out God, “Is it true”
God Laughed out loud and towards me He drew,
With a lighting glow in the darkness of night
Whispered to me “It is quite right”.

I started to wonder and out of human avarice
I spoke out thus, even without thinking twice,
“Then perhaps it may also be true
That what are million rupees to us is only a penny to You (God) “

Once again, I asked out God, “Is it true”
God Laughed out loud and towards me He drew,
With a lighting glow in the darkness of night
Whispered to me “It is quite right”.

For one last time I looked into his eye
As if fighting a war and watching myself die,
I requested Lord to lend me a penny
Thinking that will fetch me plenty of money.

My dear Child as you desire
Anything for you whatever you require,
Unfortunately I don’t happen to have it right now
Wait for a minute I shall fetch it and fulfill my vow!

Happily thus, I waited for Lord to accomplish His Oath
But later I realized and started to loath,
For what is a minute to Lord is but thousand years to us
Like a favorite sweet in front of you with a topping of fungus.
