Why the assessing officer during survey/raid pay more importance to G.P Ratio than N.P ratio. How does the G.P Ratio impact the profitability ?

Gross Profit is the base to determine the business income. Thus examination in variation in G.P ratio are normally conducted by AO at the time of Scrutiny of books of accounts.
