Final 1719 views 6 replies

I have a Important question for all final students and Ca's....

There are two types of G.M.C.S course's doing the rounds these days - 15 days course and 3 months residential course??

Now basic question is which one to do but the more important question is which one would be more helpful ??

And again when to fill up the form i.e., how much waiting is there (Like in case of ITT we got seats about 3 months later after filling the forms...)

Please all those who have completed G.M.C.S you know the fog of confusion that prevails especially with the institutes way of handling such stuff.... so please  provide us with all the details that clears all these questions and others that crop in students minds........

Please all senior's do help

same query of mine..

I am not aware about your location but I would answer you question assuming you belong to Mumbai.

Apart from the three months residential course there is also a 6 six weeks course coming up in Hyderabad. The details for the same are available on https://www.icai.org/post.html?post_id=6471&c_id=219

The six weeks or the three months course is more intensive and detailed compared to the 15 days GMCS. It depends upon your interest and availability of time which one would suit you better.

For the 15 days GMCS course (October 2010 Batch) I had registered in the first week of September and got a seat immediately although only last 4 seats were remaining. So register for the course atleast 2 months in advance.

I have completed 5 days of the GMCS course and 10 days are still remaining. I have felt that sometimes the session was short and the group of 48 students is a bit large compared to the classroom provided to us.

This problem will not be faced in the three months course as there would be ample of time.

Thanks DMC your answer is wonderfully detailed and solves all my queries however i must ask you one more question regarding the same matter and hope u oblige again:::

The 3 months program i assume one has to undergo after passing the ca final i.e., specifically 2 months after say may 2011 exam.... (now due to articleship and tuition’s i doubt that i would be able 2 fit in 15 days GMCS ).... hence i would ( assuming i pass of course) register after obtaining my pass results (say in 1st week of august) & so i may get a seat in October anyplace and this course will get over in December... now in such a situation when would i be able 2 sit in a campus interview as a result of this?????

I know this is planning and assumption of too far ahead a time but please also note that like u i am sitting on the final leg of our ca 'struggle' and such delays can hinder the first steps of our careers...

Please do reply this query too.... u have been a great help also any other experienced senior is also requested to share their knowledge/experience in this matter...

Dear Kunal

It is not necessary to pass CA Final examination and only then register for the course.

A student who has passed Intermediate / Professional Education (Examination – II) /
Professional Competence Course / Integrated Professional Competence Course and is
serving his last 12 months of articled training is eligible to complete the course.
Hence if your CA Final attempt is in May 2011, you can undergo the course even now or immediately after giving the CA Final examination. There is no need to wait for CA Final Pass result.

If there is a batch of 3 months course in June next year register for it and you would be done with it by August. The campus placement for May 2011 passouts will be probably held in August-September next year. Even if GMCS is pending you are still eligible for the campus placements and an assurance is to be given by you that you would complete GMCS before joining the job.

my opinion, for those who are in articleship or not cleared ca final, first attend for 15 days course for mandatory purpose and then after qualifing CA, join as any programme either six weeks or 3 months.

i prefer this , can any body suggest otherwise...........

3 month residential program is more better than 15 days. But if you have shortage of time and financial problem go for 15 days course.

If you are from Delhi, the waiting time is approx 3 month so get your self registered 3 month ago
