By looking at it comparative balance sheet and profit & loss account for current and previous years.
You can check the trend in book value with EPS, PE ratio and market price.
Check the dividend payout history
Check the business environment in which the company is doing business.
Check the track record of the management team ie chairman, board of directors, ceo etc
