When you are in full time employment and you apply for COP you will get Part Time COP from the institute. However, Part time COP has no value for Chartered Accountant. You will not get any signing power. However, as soon as you cease to be employment you can just inform Institute to update the status of your COP to Full time.

It is of no use... You only pay COP fees to the institute... One benefit I can tell you is that you can enter into partnership firm or you can setup your own firm as well... However, you will not enjoy any signing powers... You can't sign audit reports nor u can do any certification work...

cop is not required (whether part time or full time) to be fca. To be an FCA, you shall be the member of the ICAI for 5 years.
