no,We cannot put scan or digital signature on Form 16 or Form 16 A. It should be done by hand.

RESPECTED, I NEED TO ISSUE TDS CERTIFICATE to OUR PARTIES WHOM TDS WE DEDUCTED DURING THE PERVIOUS YEAR. THIS YEAR IN 16A [TDS CERTIFICAT FORMAT] I SAW QUARTER NUMBER AND ACK.NO. WHICH ARE THESE NUMBERS ? PLEASE GUIDE ME. MANISH, SURAT.

I woul like to add to the reply of Mr. Harish that CBDT has recently allowed the use of Digital Signatures on Form 16 ( for TDS on Salary). You may please refer CBDT Circular No. 2/2007 dated 21/05/2007.

The Quarter No. and Acknowledgement No. refers to the Quarterly Return of TDS filed with the I.Tax department and their Acknowledgement No.

REPLY OF MR MANISH ON TDS WHEN WE FILE TDS QUARTERLY RETURNS ON FLOPPY TO THE TIN FACILITATION CENTRES OF NSDL THEN THE ISSUE US ACKNOWLEDGEMENT ON WHICH ACK.NUMBER OF 15 DIGIT IS MENTIONED. SO U FILE 4 QTRY TDS RETURNS THEN U HAVE FOUR QTRS AND 4 ACKN. NUMBER . NOW U CAN FILL THESE 4 ACK.NO. IN THE TDS CERTIFICATE SPACE ON FORM 16A. RUDRA DATT

Hi You can put difital signature as per the notification issued recently . Scanned is no permitted as the law specifically says digital signature

Can you please give me reference to notification in which it is stated that degital signature can be stated on form 16A.

It is required very urgenty.
