I fully agree with CA Amit Joshi.

Friendship does not require any symbol (nishaani).

There are no such signs in the history that one has made a symbol in the

memory of his friendship.

It is said that Dosti itself is the best gift given by the God. With an altogether

different view I say :  Friends are made by friends and not by God.

There is no measurement of friendship hence no symbol is there.   

I remember one "shloka" in Sanskrit : 

"Lalyet Panchvarshani, Dasvarshanti Tadyet,

Prapte tu shodhshe varshe, putram mitra vadacharet."

.......

......that is -

When son attains 16 years;  treat him as a Friend. 

This is the only reason that I have accepted so many friends at caclubindia where age difference is not less than 25-30 years !! 

We enjoy all the time.

These words have been told by a person who was assisisnated by one of his enemy. 

After reading all the posts relating to this thread; I think the biggest trouble with us is - we read (or listen) half; understand a quarter and tell double or triple.

A question may be moved to any direction, it is my opinion.  

But, the direction of the discussion would depend upon how we think about the issue. 

In my school days; I used to sing  : 

Ye......Dosti.......Hum Nahi......Todenge,  

Todenge.....Dum Magar.....Tera Saath Na Chhodenge !!

Still I am murmering the lines...............(you can't hear).

Right !! But the friend sitting on back seat will never push you to drown when you  require his help the most. He will save you anyhow.  And still you would not be able to say him : THANK YOU. 

(Before including me as your friend; you were sad. Now your face is smiling. Friendship can do this; nobody else can do it. Even your close  relatives would not be able to make you happy so early).

SO ENJOY FRIENDSHIP WITHOUT TRYING TO GIVE IT A SYMBOL.
