Money deposited in a bank (whether in current account or SB account or fixed deposit account) is not treated as an investment for the purpose of Companies Act 2013. In Balance Sheet (Schedule-III) also it is shown under Cash & Bank Balances. Investments (Current or Non-Current) are classified as shares, debentures, bonds etc. Section 186 also refers to acquisition of securities (as defined in Securities Contracts Regulation Act).
