21 October 2009Pls clarify if a dealer is registered under both MVat and Cst -in Maharastra is filling returns under CST act is compulsory
1.if he doest have any Taxable Turnover under CST.
2. If he has only Stock Transfer from one branch to another in different states.

At the time the government made e-filing compulsory for all, it had placed an ad in the newspapers that for dealers having both registration, if CST turnover is nil, it will suffice if only VAT return (whether nil or otherwise) is filed with yes selected in column asking whether holding CST regn. Whether that is still valid is what I do not know. You email the helpline. They usually answer in 24 hours.
