I have not filied a return of assessment year -2010-11 and i wants to file in financial year - 2011-12. can i file it . or i have to pay a penalty of Rs 5000 or both.....

Dear Sir,
Belated Return can be filed before the expiry of 1 year from the end of the Relevant Assessment year or completion of assessment whichever is earlier. Hence in your case, the return can be filed on or before 31.03.2012 with along Interest U/s 234A and penalty of Rs.5000
