hi..you are using very old version of tally.
For export...do following steps.
Select ledger for export > press export tab >selct ASCII in first place> put file name.for eg. C:\\export> at last "yes"> open new excel sheet > file > open> file name place type"c:\\export">ok> selct " delimited" > next >select "comma"> next> finish...now ur data exported and save it in separate excel sheet.

Hi Pooja,
You are right, there is no export tab,
Follow this:
Go to the ledger or any thing which you want to export>>>
Now Press Alt+P+Alt+P (Combination of 4 Keys)
Export window will come and ask abt all MR. Sathyanarayana.B has told,
So simple, isn't it ??

hey pooja all u need to do is press alt and E key together. after pressing alt + E a window will open. the file will get automatically exported in xml format. for changing it into excel format all u need to do is to change the format .xml to .xls and u can see the file exported generally in C drive or in the place where tally icon is i.e i i mean where the tally software is stored.
u may feel free to revert wid any further query.

Alt E does not work. Neither does Alt+P+Alt+P (Combination of 4 Keys). It shows print menu.

I think you have release 3(a) or 3(b), you should get release 4 to enable that command.

Hi Sheetal,
As i already told and this is also confirmed by Pooja, there was a hidden facility of export to excel in the tally version 5.4
If you want to test just press Alt+p twice consequently in ledger view or trial or balance sheet and even profit and loss account.
