Hello, I run a software development proprietorship. For 2009-10, I estimate revenue of Rs.20 lakh from exports, and Rs.one lakh from domestic business. I have not yet registered for service tax.
1. Is my taxable service Rs.1 lakh or Rs.21 lakh?
2. If it is Rs.21 lakh, do I need to register for service tax?
3. If I start a second proprietorship just for my domestic business, will I still need to register for service tax?

No registration necessary for you unless you wish to claim the refund of the ST paid on your input services like link charges/ insuracne etc.
Thanks Madhukar. I don't plan to claim any ST refund.
I'm assuming I can continue with just one proprietorship and not have to register.
