Exemption of uniform allowance

Dear Experts, If in organisation there is no expressly stated dress code but it is written in the policy that formals should be worn during working hours, in this case if person is getting 3000 pm as a uniform allowance and purchasing formals out of it. Is it allowed as a deduction under Income tax.. Please give solution to above query.

Hi, I participated in a workshop organised by Mr. Subhash Lakhotia, the Tax Guru CNBC Aawaz where this issue has been discussed and so many companies are giving uniform allowance. He advised that employee should declare that he has purchased so much of amount of uniform during the month/year.

it means formals purchased during the year rgt??

Yes...And declration should be signed!

Thank u Mr. Vishal, for better practice i am collecting bills itself of formals purchased during the year and keep it in proofs in my doc file/.
