if we get exemption from the foundation course on the basis of our graduation degree (non commerce) are we still required to take any foundation level tests? If no then why does the institute require you to take a postal or an oral tuition? Are we tested for these?

Exemption From Foundation Examination

A candidate possessing any of the following qualifications or any other qualifications recognised by the Council of the ICSI with the approval of the Central Government as equivalent thereto, is exempted from passing the Foundation examination

  • A Degree or master's degree in Corporate Secretaryship
    or Commerce
  • Pass in the Final examination of the Institute of Cost and Works Accounts of India(ICWAI) or the Institute of Chartered Accountants(ICAI) of India or any other Accountancy Institution in India or abroad recognised as equivalent thereto by the Council: or
  • A degree or master's degree in any discipline other than Fine Arts.

A candidate who is eligible for exemption from the Foundation examination under clause (iii) stated above can seek registration as student. Such a candidate before becoming eligible for undergoing coaching for the Intermediate examination is required to undergo satisfactorily a course of postal or oral tuition for those subjects of the Foundation examination which he had not studied at the graduate or post graduate level, after registration as a student. hi Krishna, I have already read that clause. But I want to know about this postal/ oral tuition. Do we have to take any tests for them?

If above foundation subjects areas are not covered in your graduation, then you may choose either oral or postal tuition for those subjects of study and they will conduct tests too at their branches. Better to call up your nearby branch office for detailed procedure for fees, registration etc.

thanks Krishna. But I want to know if I am exempt from the foundation course why do I have to appear for the tests? That's as good as not being exempt at all!

No we don't need to take any test but we will have to submit response sheet of both foundation as well as executive course......I am collecting material for response sheets of both...

1. I have graduated in Bsc maths so am I eligible for exemption in any of the foundation papers (I am talking about submission of response sheets)?

2. What is the minimum passing for the foundation papers (response sheets) and by what date do we have to submit them in case we are planning to sit for the exams in december?

3. In case I am exempt from any of the papers what proof do I have to show?

4. Also is it possible to see question/ answers to previous years papers?
