Exempt income not reported in itr

ITR Filing 663 views 3 replies

Due to oversight, I forgot to report exempt income consisting of Dividend, interest on tax free bonds and long term capital gains on shares in the ITR form e-filing.Should I file revised return or not.

Yes you need to rectify by revising the return. Assuming the return is AY 2015-16. If it is AY 2014-15 then check whether the same is processed or not. If processed you cannot do anything but if  it is not you can still file a revise return assuming original was filed within the due date

To be on safer side you should disclose all the exempt income in itr.
