In my view you should taken IEC from DGFT after that you got Import of Export and your products is excable then you need for Excise Registration.

since you are only an exporter registration under excise is not mandatory but for exorting the goods you would like to avail certain benefits like obtaining the goods without payment duty etc.you should take registration.
