Excess tds refund

for the monthly tds payment which was due by 7th of the month my client didn't deposit it. He deposited it on 8th. And so he paid interest @ 2% pm, obviously he was ingorent about the rate. My question is whether we can get the refund of excess tds deposited or adjustment of excess tds interest paid.

See suppose you paid INR500 at the rate of 2% which should actually be say INR400 at the rate of 1.5%.

Now the only way you can use your those INR100 in excess is by showing in TDS return in the interest column INR400 only.

The remaining INR100 you can use it in succeeding TDS returns.

There is not rule framed regarding Refund of TDS amount wrongly deposited in Govt A/c.

Online Request-Refund of excess TDS-Rule-31A-form 26B

My sincere apologies that I missed to mention this rule which our this fellow has specified.

Form 26B is there, please find it attached to this post.

Personally I would recommend you to go for the procedure I mentioned in my first post, so simple and hassle free.

Please check this link for full procedure to obtain refund.
