Dear sir,

If you had filed the return of income within due date for that assessment year than revise the return & claim the excess amount of tax paid as refund from the department accordingly.

you have to mentioned the details of challans of tax paid along with the date & bank name & bsr code & challan serial no. in the return clearly so as to enable the department officials to process the refund quickly.

If  tax is deposited after  filling of return, it mean income tax was shown as payable in return. in this situation if,

1) You have filled the return within due date, revise it as said by Mr. Manoj above.

2) If not,  Make application to A.O. , submit the copy of challan  and request him to  complete the  Assessment and issue the refund order.

Dear Sir,

What friends have said is correct if it can be revised den u should revise ur return....

Apart from this I would say just follow up with AO with dis diificulty n write an application that due a mistake assessment year mentioned in the challan is incorrect and then he might allow u to utilize that  amount in current year...........
