I am a PCC FInal student on the verge of completion of my articleship. If I have to calculate the number of days served, it is more than the number of days I would have to serve in the total period of 3 and 1/2 period of articleship. This is because, I have served on most of the saturdays and some holidays/sundays. If I had taken excess leave, I would have to make up for the deficit by serving for more period. So, applying the same rule is it possible to stop the articleship assuming that it is over? Please advise, thanks in advance. |

It is done like this, you multiply 3.5 years by 365, then reduce it by the number of leaves taken.. the result is number of working days, out of this number of working days, 1/6th is the number of leaves you are eligible to, with a maximum of 180 days.
Saturdays, at a lot of firms, are working days, if your firm generally observes it as holiday, you may request your Principal to adjust it along with other holiday-working days against your leaves, if you still got excess leaves after that, you have to serve that excess period, unless otherwise you can arrange with your Principal, request, plead, beg, whatever.
You cannot assume articleship is over unless and until you complete the formalities, i.e. the paper work.
