01 August 20101) dear ,,i have downloaded ITR 1( saral II ) excel utiliy from income tax site..in verification part its been given that to give your full name but when i gave the full name which was little bit big , In ITR-V in verification part only half of the name was displayed.
2) And for total income calculation also is not rounded of to nearest 10rs, in ITR-V its displaying as Rs174864 whereas it should be Rs174860.
to rectify the above 2 should i file revised return or is it enough.....

I think it is fine..But u must have quoated the right PAN..

I tried to submit my e-return on line; so I filled up the whole data on line in prescribed proforma at the said income tax india gov site. But it could not be sent as it could not be verified and generate point could not function, niether it could genenrate acknowledgement on dated 30/07/2010. Due to these shortcomings on line I was forced to submit my E-Return mannually at Mayur Bhavan, New Delhi-110007.

FULLY AGREED WITH AMIT. IN THE VERIFICATION PART, U CAN SHORT U'R NAME I.E. U CAN WRITE FIRST NAME FULL AND THEREAFTER FIRST ALPHABET OF MIDDLE NAME AND SURNAME. IT IS ALLOWED PROVIDED U HAVE TO QUOTE THE RIGHT PAN NO.
REGARDING ROUNDING OFF, THERE SEEMS TO BE PROBLEM IN EXCEL UTILITY SOFTWARE ITSELF. NET TAXABLE INCOME ROUNDING OFF TO NEAREST 10 IS CORRECT AS PER IT ACT. THUS U DON'T HAVE TO FILE REVISED RETURN. IT IS TECHNICAL PROBLEM AND U ARE ON THE SAFE SIDE....

Hi,
I have also downloaded ITR -1 (saral II) PDF form utility from income tax site and generated xml file which is successfully filled. But in the ITR - V (acknowledgement), the total income is not showing. And this error is coming in every efiling acknowledgement.
Please tell me whether it is necessary to file revised return or not.
Please suggest me.

YOUR NOT FILLED PROBLEM I THINK, IF ITS NOT SHOWING PROPERLY YOUR TOTAL INCOME THEN FILE REVISE RETURN,

IN ITR IT WILL NOT TAKE ROUND FIGURE,WHEN ITS NOT IN ROUND FIGURE. IT WILL CACLUATE AS YOU ENTER YOUR GROSS INCOME AND MINUS YOUR DEDUCTION..IF YOU WANT MAKE IT ROUND FIGURE THEN YOU SHOULD REDUCE YOUR GROSS AMT TO GET ROUND FIGURE..

Do not worry. Open the XML file with Internet Explorer or Firefox and you will see all your data is accurately entered. If the name is truncated on ITRV that does not matter as the department computer has your XML file that is correctly showing the data. The ITRV is usually handled by a Content Management Software that parses data from the XML file. Usually there are bugs in the formatting of the PDF output of Content Management system and therefore your name is truncated in the ITRV due to formatting problems.
If Department has not rounded of the income to nearest Rs.10 it usually calculates your taxes and interest based on the nearest Rs.10. The form has an inbuilt calculator that takes it into account. No need to revise your return as that too will do the same thing.
