Goldman Sachs, one of the leading firms in the Investment Banking area is based in Bangalore. They offer the position which you are looking for in Bangalore. Besides, there must be other domestic brokerage houses as well who might have their research departments based in Blore.
As an equity analyst, the other roles you can handle are is to be a sectoral analyst as well. That means along with analysis on specific stocks, you can become an expert of some sector. At the same time, you can also look at the technical analysis part of that sector/stock.
CFA from AIMR is the best qualification for getting into an investment bank (not for an accounting/taxation or back office work profile).
An Equity Research team comprises of various persons who work at different levels, i.e. a few are doing data collection (Market size, challenges and opportunities, history, key players, competition, legal aspects etc), few of them do analysis (interpreting the data to arrive at some key points as conclusions), a few might make reports (compiling the data and its analysis in proper form to make it a deliverable), some might meet the management of the companies, a few might do a combination of the work mentioned herein. The career path would be on the above lines. As a fresher you might be asked to do work like data collection only, later you might be involved in meeting management or doing a combination of work mentioned above.
Pay package depends on the firm and yourself (qualifications, luck, and attitude). Intl firms pay more than the domestic brokerage houses. I am not sure, but I have heard that the packages for a CFA level III student joining as an equity analyst range from 7-14 lakhs p.a. in Intl firms. There will be many exceptions to this range on higher as well as lower side due to the factors mention in the first sentence of this paragraph.
Wishing you good luck.
