enquiry about new business

I've started new FMCG distribution from this month.My question is should I register to VAT or wait for GST. Please clarify me what is the difference between these matters. Further ensure me if there is any security deposition needed for GST as like VAT security deposition 25000/-.If any security deposition needed,then what is the amount?
