Education loan interest for n.r.i. assesses

Mr. Y went to USA to presue masters in Robotics in August-17. Mr. Y availed loan from SBI for paying education fees to foreign university. Mr. Y have business setup in India from which he earns income in India and the business in looked after his employees. Mr. Y thus need to file Income tax return in India as an NRI asssesse.

Is Mr. Y eligible to claim deduction under section 80E for interest charged by SBI on education loan and the same is paid by Mr. Y?
