E-way bill for intra state --- not for gst audit purpose ????

So many people informed that E-Way Bill for Intra State is only for Vehicle on Road purposes.

There is no necessary to keep  records  for GST Audit ----

Question: Its true ??? Realy its not required for GST Audit Purpose ??
