We are doing interstate purchase from Maharashtra to Kerala. The material despatched by month end used to be received by next month beginning only. It takes around six days for material to reach Kerala. On what date should these bills to be booked in our ledger

Input tax credit can be taken only in the month of receipt of goods i.e. July'18 in your case. Therefore, it is better if you account in july month only for reconciliation purposes. However, there is no bar in accouting the purchase bill in the month of June 18. But input tax credit under GST has to be taken in July 18.
