E-Filing ITR Help Required!

Hi,

I need to file IT returns for my mother, who is 72 years old. She has never filed IT returns in the past [online or otherwise] but in the last financial year her income [through fixed deposit interest] exceeded Rs 3 lakhs.

I have just registered her with the govt website https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/ I also managed to check the TDS details on Form 26AS posted on the website. However, I am unsure about the complete e-filing process itself. The answers to the FAQs themselves are very complicated!

I do have all the individual Form 16A [physical forms] from the banks from where TDS was deducted. Do I need to have the soft copies/PDFs of all these Form 16A for e-filing? If yes, where do I get them from? And is there any easy way to file the return online...a tool or something?

Thanks!

Check whether all the income and TDS deducted from all FDR are duly reflected in your 26AS.

You just need to know all your income which can be gathered from FDR Interest certificate of banks in your case as mentioned above.

With regard to calculation of Income  and E-filing process of ITR, if you are unsure/ not fully aware of proper taxation rules & regulations It is advisable to seek professional help from tax practitioner.

First off, thanks for the response.

Yes, I did check the Form 26AS and it is showing all the income and TDS deducted, which tally with the TDS from the Form 16A. I just came across a website https://cleartax.in which claims to be an e-intermediary and helps to file the return online directly. Not sure about its reliability though.

Also, if I file return through a professional CA, will it create a conflict since I have already registered on the incometax e-filing website but now filing offline?

If you have knowlege of accounting and preparing financial statement then you can use platform provided by cleartax but you may need to upload all pdf there. I am not sure of how this site works.

Well there wont be any conflict to take professional help from any tax practitioner even if you yourself registered on income tax filing website. Infact your Tax practitioner will help you file online return and you wont need to file offline return.
