Yes. Only the tuition fee paid for full time course is eligible for deduction u/s. 80C. Other expenses, such as transport charges, library charges, hostel charges, development fees or donation, are not covered.
Keep receipt as proof, if case of any query raised.

@ Pooja: Generally full time courses are considered for 80C deductions. But if the course you have mentioned is recognised by any recognised university as degree or diploma (& not certification) course, than you can claim such deduction.

Hello,
I have paid 50K towards admission fees for Engineering. Infact it is towards tuition but the challan says as admission fees.. Can I claim under 80C. I have copy of Challan paid to the bank. Please share your thoughts
