Double PAN

due to mistake wrong category allotted to assessee. he have obtained new PAN in correct category. if he surrenders old PAN, what will be the implications on portal I'd, refunds and returns already filed on old PAN.?

PLEASE suggest. thank you.

Returns already filled shall be deemed to be invalid

If the address ,mobile number remains same.
individual remains same.
he can claim refund .

additionally I want tto whether functionally of e filing portal like rectification and refund reissues can be accessed or not. the above can be done offline or not.?

What change in category ? can you specify ?

Holding two PAN cards is punishable.

It's better you talk on helpline with PAN issuing Agency for such situation.

To double confirm, you may visit AO's office for guidance.

Do as directed.

sir, the assess got registered under the incorrect category of FIRM at the time of allocation of Pan Card. the Assessee registered as a trust under the trust act. until now, the assessee is filing ITR-7, however, as per the new schema of the department, it can not file the return under the earlier mentioned form. as per discussion with department new PAN with the correct category applied. now we want to surrender wrong PAN. but if we do this, all our refunds will get stuck.

Who said about refunds getting stuck ?

Is it from confirmed sources ?

There must be a way out for both - surrender of old PAN and caring for prior years refund in old PAN. Refer my earlier reply for more.

I don't think any negative impact on earlier period refunds .

Actually refund get failed due to bank account prevalidation reason so we have to wait for transfer of refund in assessee account. if we surrender pan that we can not file any refund failures request.
