donation made to any religious organisation is allowed as a deduction under section 80G or not

It will be allowable only if the religious institution is registered under 80G of the Act.
The PAN of the body alongwith its registration should be clearly mentioned on the donation receipt.

in addition to the above...
the regn no. under sec.80G should also b shown on the receipt...
