Does it department send a 143(1) acknowledgment to all successful e-filers or just errors?

I paid tax last year and only got a normal email acknowledgement. Should I be getting a 143(1) as well? or is it only for those who have errors in their filing?

Did you file IT return?

If yes, what is the status of ITR?

If processed, download the report.....

Yes, sir, I paid tax and then filed the tax on e-filing website and got an email acknowledgement of the filing. (This query is related to my last year's tax, just to be sure.)

It says "Filing section 139(1) || Acknowledgement number "[number here]" || Status : successfully e-verified"

Does e-verified means I'm done? or should I expect that the AO will verify and send another "your e-verified returns was correct" or some email like that? I asked on Quora and some said that they send 143(1) only if there is some error, and some said that everyone who has successfully e-verified receives 143(1)?

Sorry if this is a very basic question. Last year was my first time paying tax. Just want to make sure I didn't miss out on something.

If present status of the ITR is 'Successfully E-verified' wait for its final assessment.

By the way, check if you would have received any notice for any sort of defect? or tax credit mismatch? etc..

1] I checked tax credit mixmatch and it says "Tax credit claimed is fully matched with tax credit available in 26AS"

2] I checked  "response to outstanding tax demand" It says "no records found"

Can someone please tell me if receiving 143(1) compulsory to attain completion of tax payment process? Should I write to them and ask to be given a proper acknowledgement?

Just errorss...I Think
processing of returns is compulsory.
u give something x to dept and dept has to answer for ur input x and give answer as y.
in case ur return remains unprocessed due to some technical reasons after the stated statutory period ur acknowledgement is treated as processed return....provided all taxes r paid.
when ur return gets processed ..... only GOD knows.
till then wait... no body can do anything.
Thanks for the response @ Rajkumar It helps clear things. Is there a way to bring it to the notice of the IT department through grievance or customer care or shall I just let it be and proceed with my this year's tax?
dear friend
at CPC u cannot do anything.
grievance will tell u the s ame story.
it shall happen when it has to happen.
just forget and concentrate on ur other goals.
but cpc nowadays r very prompt. one of these days u will get a reply unless it is a technical issue.
no demand no refund cases r processed when it is done at cpc...how cpc does it ...nobody knows.
just wait and carry on with ur other activities

That's exactly the kind of clarity I was looking for, from people who know the process. Sorry about my ignorance, I am in my early twenties. This is my first time filing taxes.

The intention of asking the question to figure out if I missed out on any process of filing, otherwise tomorrow IT dept must not say, for forgot to do so and so last step therefore your processing is pending or that as per rule number so and so you are required to send intimation to IT dept. if tax not processed in 3 months.

As long is nothing is pending form my side, I'm fine going on with my normal life. This years tax payment is already coming near.

Thank you for the clarity.

@ everyone I just received an SMS saying "ITR for your Pan no XXXXX has been processed ACK No. XXXX. 143(1) will be sent via email".

I'm happy that this was resolved. To other people who are facing the same issue, I'd like to mention that I didn't take any steps to resolve it. I didn't write to CPC or call customer care. It got resolved on its own.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I just checked the 143(1) email they have sent. It says 4 rupees pending, and last line says NIL. Anyway, it seems the rule is that if the amount is less than 100 then it can be ignored.

But when I logged in to my IT filing portal, the status of the tax paid still says "successfully e-verified" and not "fully processed".

Does it take a few days to be updated?

Wait for system to upgrade. It takes about a week to reflect.
