It is no news that the ICAI's recent flip flops with respect to the November examinations held in 2009 has left a bad taste amongst the majority of the student community. The delay in declaration of results and also the poor pass percentage amongst Final Students has left a crowd of dismay and disgruntled in the current scenario. A lot of students across the country in online forums like Caclub have expressed a willingness to show solidarity and protest against the current actions from the Institute.
Unfortunately many students have shown disinterest and retorted that CA students are professional students and hence should not protest as it puts us and the ICAI in poor light. Does not the ICAI's recent actions show itself in poor light amongst us?? Last time we were well aware of the consequences in the delay of results. Many deserving candidates were left in the lurch.
The actions of ICAI can have adverse effects on the credibility of its repuatation of being the 2nd largest professional organisation. We are not telling that we should come in the streets and protest, we are not telling we should break window panes of ICAI premises.
Do you not protest when your client tries to cover a mistake, error or fraud? One can protest in the most rational and reasonable way which will portray the difficulties of CA students and also highlight the harsh decisions and measures being taken by the current incumbent officials.
We should write letters to editorials of Financial dailies like Economic Times, Businessline, Business Standard, Mint, etc. highlighting the hardships the PROFESSIONAL STUDENT community is facing.
Professionalism does not mean sit quiet and allow being to surrender to the money minting exercise the incumbent officials are taking. It is also not surprising to find that premiere CA coaching institutions have also supported ICAI while approving the poor pass percentage. Through maligned numbers they show us a statistics and claim that 85% of the final students who wrote the exams were NON SERIOUS Candidates. The ICAI in recent years though collects a hefty fees for books but does not give updated books in INCOME TAX for students and ammendements in other subjects. Students naturally have to depend on endorsed views of the Coaching Institutions to purchase costly books.
ICAI though shows its books have copyright allows Professionals like B. Sarvannaprasath to plagiarise its entire text books and RTP and also allows it to charge at a higher price
