Do i need to file it return if annual job income is <rs1.8l?

Hi guys,

I have recently started working in a very small CA firm and my annual job salary is less than Rs.1.8 lakhs.

Do I still need to file any IT returns? What about my employer? Does he have to deduct anything like TDS/PF/PPF from my salary, etc.?

Asking this because I will need proof of payment of income tax like Form 16A etc. in the future for immigration purposes. I don't have a clue of what Form 16A or how this process works.

What should I do? Any help/advice will be appreciated. Thank you very much.

It is always recommended to file IT returns even when you are below exemption limit or exempt from filing returns.

It depends on your CA firm regarding EPF.

But Professional tax will be deducted from your salary total 2500 pa

If you can provide info to your CA firm that your gross total income is below exemption limit, then your CA firm will not deduct TDS. And even if they do, you have to file IT returns to claim the refund. And if they don't deduct TDS, at your request, they can issue you form 16A for your records.

But always file IT return every year irrespective of any case.

Thank you so much Mihir. I have sent you a PM if you can reply to that.

Exemption limit for Financial year 2011-12 is 190000 and your income is 180000.So it is below exemption limit. So there is no question of tax arises at all.But if  your employer deduct TDS then you can claim refund by Filing ITR. It is always recommended to file ITR even if there is nil amount of tax.
