08 September 2012Now this is a great Diwali gift from ICAI, they have removed the List of services applicable for November 2012 exams in paper 8 i.e IDT.
They will not be burdening us to study the services, but now the main question is where will they ask questions from??
Could any one discuss about the possibilties of topics which will be covered for this subject.
I guess they will start asking from Point of Taxation Rules.

Simply all the syllabi minus deleted services.
Emphasis is likely to be on procedural intricacies.

Generally two practical questions based on taxable services and penalty is asked in the examination.. But now they cannot ask question from taxable services then...
Ya even I think that Institute will be asking question from Point of Taxation Rule only.

This is no longer on the announcements section of ICAI's site.
Also, if it is confirmed, it is still bad news. Taxable Services was a sure question. Now, we face uncertainty.

really a student friendly decision from the ICAI, but "the grapes may turn out to be sour". With 4 days gap in Direct Taxes and removal of 32 services from Indirect Taxes, ICAI has well put itself in a very good position to come out with some "unpleasent surprises".
