Discrepancy in form-16

625 views 6 replies
My employer gave me the Form-16 with wrong figures. The salary figure shown in Form-16 is higher by Rs 8400. I requested them to rectify the error, but they refused to do so. With which figure should I fie the ITR, the figures as per Form-16 or as appearing in bank passbook? My employer company has done this kind of “error” in almost 95% cases of Form-16.

you should file your return with correct figures.

Gross salary is credited or net salary (after deduction) is credited in your bank account.

confirm the bank pass book data before filing return

Bank Pass Book data, no problem

if actual data, then no problem

First confirm ur bank passbook data that whether it is net amount or gross then proceed accordingly and fill correct details
you can file on actual basis after claiming deduction and allowances and you can confirm with your 26AS also....but it doesn't make any difference.....Make sure whatever deduction and exemptions r u claiming should be according to the income chargeble under the head salary or income tax act 1961..that's it
