Hope you must have read Section 158 i.e. Obligation to indicate Director Identification Number, it read as follows:

"Every person or company, while furnishing any return, information or particulars
as are required to be furnished under this Act, shall mention the Director Identification Number in such return, information or particulars in case such return, information or particulars relate to the director or contain any reference of any director".

It is a matter of good governance just like the Publication of CIN in all business communication (Section 12 (3C)).

On a lighter node, Section 158 itself starts with OBLIGATION, you just can't help it
