Digitally signing of mca forms

Hi

Can anybody kindly explain the process of digitally signing?

if a director is in Mumbai and the auditor is in Chennai.In order to file forms like annual return(20b),23ac and other forms of the mca do the director need to go to chennai or it can be done through mail.
