Difference between efile and direct submission in income tax

Hi, 1. What is the difference between online tax fil(efile) and normal tax file(directly submission of file to income tax department). Is there any diffrence slab diffrerence like if salary less than 10 lakhs needs to be submit direclty income tax diffrerent else salary greater then 10 lakhs needs to be sumit through online only. e-Filing has been made compulsory for the person who is an Individual or a Hindu Undivided Family, if his or its total income, or the total income in respect of which he is or it is assessable under the Act during the previous year, exceeds ten lakh rupees for AY 2012-13 onwards. Click here to download notification no. S.O. 626 (E). dtd 28th March 2012 in this regard. 

 

Moreover online filing is much better as compared to manual filing, because processing happens very fast & u can as well track u'r status of the return filed by logging in the IT dept website.

Hi Gnanika, Yes. Efilling is mandatory whoever having more then 10 lakhs. I got below rumors on below query. If salary less then 5 lakhs, he is also mandatory to file the ITR either direct submission or efilling. If salary greater then 10 lakhs, he is mandatory to file the ITR through efilling only. Above rumors are correct or not
