Exmpted goods under GST

X has been doing business in exmpted goods his turn over is 40 lakh should he take GST number is it mandatory to get number under GST.

Registration is compulsory when taxable turnover is more than 20 lakhs exclude exempted turnover.

No need to take registration when supplying only exempted category of goods.

Unless Mr.X is supplying exempted goods/services , Registration is not required irrespective of turnover

No, you need not to take registration, if you exclusive provides exempted supplies. However, even if you bill Rs 1 of taxable supplies, you need to get yourself registered into GST..

No need to take Registration in GST when you are dealing with exempted goods. Also the Turnover Clause ( ₹ 20 lakhs) is not applicable for the dealers of exempted goods.
