Basically, You do not maintain books for those income. Even though it is a case of ITR 4S, wrongly file ITR4: The Ao might only be interested in the basic details that are mentioned in the ITR 4. i.e. Gross Revenue, Cash/bank balances, any Debtor/creditors....
Collect these basic info and submit to AO. If he wants other info, he will send further notice or simply tell you orally.

I have received a tax notice under section 143(2) - Scrutiny for tax filed on 31 July 2014 for FY year 2013-14. I am a salaried person and work in planning tours industry and have been paying taxes over many previous years. However in the above mentioned year, i had done a booking for some person under my individual name and earned some profit out of it (over Rs.10000). This was shown as profit from business in my individual books of account and computation of income by my accountant and was filed as ITR IV (due to income form business - even though i do not have any registered business). Usually for salaried, we have been filing ITR 1 over the years. I have paid tax on my salary, other income as well as profit amount received, however all was under ITR IV.
Is this the reason for scrutiny? Also what are the consequences and questions that may be raised in this matter? Please advise urgently as need to meet the IT officer in 2 days

Hi Shagun,
The reason for scruitiny is to check whether you have disclosed true amounts and paid tax accordingly. There is no need to worry if everything is as per law. It is just a notice to appear before AO for scruitny. This can be solved only by appearing before the AO.
And to analyse what reasons the notice is sent i can exactly tell you as the info you provided are very little. If you give clear details we would be able to analyse what consequences would arise under scruitny and methods for rectification.
