Dear Sir,

I am a central govt employee for the past 4 yrs. I had failed to file my income tax returns for past 3 yrs .There is TDS by my employers regularly, but owing to ignorance in the subject and laziness Ihad not filed a return yet. Is there any means  can file the returns of the past years

You can file belated return u/s 139(4) for the A.Y 14-15

For prior period you will have to file the return manually only

Dear Sreekanth ji,

You can file return electronically for AY. 2014-15 & AY 2013-14, up to 31.03.2015

But, if your Income for the AY 2013-14 exceeds Rs. 2,00,000/- before any deduction under 80C/80G, then you have to pay penalty of Rs. 5,000/- also u/s 271

see nototification for exemption to file return if income does not exceed 5 lacs Rs.

check, do you qualify for the same. It is applicable since 4-5 years.

You can take support of it.

Rs 5000 penalty is only applicable if it is imposed by assessing officer... so don't pay upfront, wait for notice from Assessing officer

Contact a CA and give your details for filing return of previous years. He will help you out.
