Service tax on bunglow construction
I am constructing a Bunglow on a plot I own at Thane. I have given construction contract to a contractor. Cost is Rs. 35 lacs. What would be the service tax and vat amount I will have to pay.

The contractor will give you the quotation stating the expenses on material and his own charges including labour. VAT is only on the material purchased. And his own consultancy, labour etc charges will include service tax. You may ask for the break-up of 35 lacs.
What is the Aervice Tax Rate. I read in an article there is abetment of 75%. So actual AT would 25% of 12.36%.
If U are construct your oun Bunglow Then Service tax and vat not applicable , But If u are making for sale then vat and service tax is applicable as per ratio of matirial and labour charge
Can u tell me the relevent Rule Nos , section etc, so that I can check
